Alister and his family have lived at Mission Beach since 1969, and involved in tourism since the 80’s they know the local islands and rivers like no one else!
Alister started in tourism in 1986 as a 26 year old father of 2, a bricklayer at the time and he built and operated River Rat Wildlife Cruises in the Hull River for 14 years from May 1986 taking his first guests out spotting crocodiles, birds, fishing and crabbing. Alister introduced the first night time crocodile safari in Australia that year which proved to be super popular!
Alister’s local knowledge and experience of boats and boating the waters around Dunk, the Family Islands, and the Great Barrier Reef is something he loves to share with everyone and in 2016 he saw the opportunity to establish Mission Beach Budget Boat Hire – no boat licence needed for you to use these safe, comfortable Smart Wave hire boats.
